We care deeply about people and the planet.

At Gordon Fabrics, we’re conscious of our footprint – we want to reduce our impact on the environment and amplify our impact in our community. We believe that this can only be achieved through tangible action and are excited to share how we’re working towards our people & planet goals:

People

We source our fabrics primarily from Korea, China and Turkey. We work with smaller-sized, niche suppliers, some of whom we’ve worked with for more than 20 years. We’ve been purposeful in partnering with only a select handful of suppliers, as it allows us to have more visibility into our supply chain.

All our suppliers have signed a Transparency Pledge attesting that they operate in a manner that is consistent with the International Labour Organization Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Right at Work, namely:

  1. freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;

  2. the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour;

  3. the effective abolition of child labour;

  4. the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation; and a safe and healthy working environment

Gordon Cares

We partner with local and global organizations to create a positive impact in our communities. These campaigns are done throughout the year to benefit areas that we feel need it most. Please keep an eye out on our social media for upcoming initiatives.

Some recent examples of initiatives we’ve supported are:

We’re proud to have strong racial diversity within our organization and throughout all levels of the business. Racial equity is important to Gordon Fabrics and has largely been achieved organically, through hiring employees who share our inclusivity values.

We’re also proud that our company is predominantly run by women.

Planet

We strive to source sustainable fabrics primarily made of natural fiber textiles that are biodegradable (such as linen, cotton, wool, and hemp). We’re proud to source natural fibre, organic, TENCEL™ Lyocell, TENCEL™ Modal, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose, and Better Cotton Initiative fabrics. In addition to sustainable fibres, many of our fabrics are pre-certified as OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

These fabrics are not inexpensive to produce or source; in addition to having a high standard of quality, these fabric types are made to last, and their production methods have a reduced environmental impact. We believe thoughtfully-crafted clothes will be loved, and loved clothes last.

LENZING™, ECOVERO™, and TENCEL™ are trademarks of Lenzing AG.

We’re proud members of the Better Cotton Initiative, the world’s leading sustainability initiative for cotton. Better Cotton’s mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.

It’s no secret that the fashion industry is a major contributor to carbon emissions and greenhouse gasses. In 2023, we launched the Gordon Green logo. All products carrying this logo contain properties that promote environmental stewardship, to help our customers make conscious decisions.

Look for this logo across our product pages to identify and understand the sustainability properties of our fabrics. Learn more here.
